What type of materials does the Centre accept as donations?

The Centre accepts photographs, documents, maps, belongings, newspaper articles and other types of records related to residential schools as donations.

Who can donate records to the Centre?

Survivors, family members, Indigenous communities or any individual with access to residential school records may choose to donate to the Centre.

How do I know that my donation will be well-preserved and cared for?

The Centre will meet with individual donors to determine the best approach for caring for donated items long-term. In some cases, the original items may be stored in the IRSHDC’s records and collections. In other cases, digital copies or surrogates of the record may be made.
