Day school settlement agreement information for Survivors
Posted on January 30, 2020

There is new information for Survivors on the Day School Settlement Agreement.

To be eligible for compensation, a person must have attended one of the schools listed on Schedule K (PDF). The Claims process opened on January 13, 2020, and class members will have two and a half years to submit their claims.

The last day to submit a claim is July 13, 2022. The form is available via the Indian Day Schools Class Action website

Completed claims forms can be submitted in three different ways. The claims must be sent to “Indian Day Schools Class Action Claims Administrator, c/o Deloitte.” Claims can be submitted in the following formats:

There is mental health counselling and crisis support available to class members through the Hope for Wellness Hotline at 1-855-242-3310, or online at www.hopeforwellness.ca

Any questions about the Claim Forms or Claim Process can be addressed by calling Class Counsel at the number 1-(888)-221-2898. When Survivors call that number, they will given two options. First, seeking support from an Administrator on submitting a claim. The second option is legal support and help filling out the Claim Form.  Form fillers are available; please contact the Federal Indian Day School Class Action for more information.

Class Counsel is working with the claims administrator, Deloitte, to schedule a series of information and support sessions in communities throughout Canada. The current schedule can be found on their website.
