Centre closed to the public
Posted on March 17, 2020

Due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, the Indian Residential School History and Dialogue Centre (IRHSDC) is closed to the public to encourage and support social distancing. Although there are no confirmed cases in the UBC community, the Centre is closing to protect the most vulnerable in the community, such as Elders, Survivors, and others who may be immunocompromised.

The Centre will be closed until further notice, and will re-assess the situation as needed.

All class visits, tours, programs and events in the space will be cancelled until further notice. Centre is also working with staff to explore ways to provide virtual programming in the interim. Those needing reference or research support are encouraged to reach out to our staff at irshdc.info@ubc.ca or irshdc.reference@ubc.ca.

The Public Health Agency of Canada continues to assess the public health risk associated with the virus. For those on campus, please refer to UBC’s campus notifications about COVID-19 for the latest information affecting the UBC community.

This decision has been made in an abundance of caution based on our community-centered work. We look forward to welcoming you back to the Centre as soon as possible, and encourage you to follow us online for updates. Thank you for your understanding.
